Research Ambassadors

Research Ambassadors are an organization of students experienced in research and passionate about sharing their experiences with their fellow students. The Research Ambassadors help answer other students' questions about research and help them to get involved by spreading the word about research opportunities. If undergraduate research has made a difference in your KU experience, consider applying using the application link below.

Apply now!

Applications will remain open until a sufficient pool of Research Ambassadors are chosen.

Student Eligibility:  Interested students must have spent at least one semester working on a research project, in a research-focused lab setting, or in some other creative/research-focused work. This could include time as an Emerging Scholar, working on a faculty-led research project, or an independent/class-related research project. Students can come from any academic discipline (humanities, social sciences, engineering, sciences, arts, etc.).

Selection Process: Students will be selected to become a Research Ambassador after submitting their applications and undergoing a brief interview process with CUR staff members. The strongest candidates will be accepted into the Ambassador program. The new cohort will attend an Orientation meeting to prepare them for their new role and improve communication skills for Ambassador-related outreach activities.

Research Ambassadors will share their research experiences through outreach activities such as classroom visits, tabling for junior and senior days, participating in Getting Started in Research panels and appointments, and other on-campus events. Ambassadors will contribute to the Center's programs (Emerging Scholars, Fall Undergraduate Research Poster Session, UGRAs) by sharing their own thoughts and perspectives, while also having the opportunity to come up with their own ideas for events and activities. Finally, Research Ambassadors will assist with the Undergraduate Research Symposium held in April each year.

Expectations:  Research Ambassadors are expected to attend all group meetings, which will take place each month, as well as the Ambassador Orientation, and play an active part in discussions and activities. Ambassadors will participate in at least three Ambassador-related outreach events each semester.
