For Students

From getting started to sharing results, our office is here to help students get the most out of their undergraduate research experience.

How we can help:

Advising

Email our office to set up an appointment to talk about getting started in research at KU or any other question you have about undergraduate research at KU.  We are here to help!

Skill Development

We lead a variety of workshops related to research proposal writing and presentation skills, and also have video tutorials about some key research skills. See our calendar for upcoming events.

Financial Support

We hold competitions each semester for Undergraduate Research Awards and Student Travel Awards, and publicize other sources for research funding on campus.

Recognition

Through our awards, student spotlights, and the presentation opportunities we offer at the end of each semester, we highlight your research accomplishments.

Research Experience for Undergraduates (REUs)

REUs are programs at universities and institutions around the country where students can gain valuable experience conducting research in a variety of fields. The University of Kansas offers REU programs on their website at

https://reu.ku.edu/

The National Science Foundation also lists REU opportunities at

https://www.nsf.gov/crssprgm/reu/reu_search.jsp

You can also talk to your professors and advisors about finding REU opportunities in your field!
